6.2.3 coming to PTR
« on: 10/14/15, 12:58 PM »
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/19913791/patch-623-preview-10-14-2015

Summary from MMO-C:

Quote
Cataclysm dungeons are getting Timewalking: Grim Batol, Stonecore, Lost City of Tol’vir, The Vortex Pinnacle, Throne of Tides, and End Time
Pit of Saron and Magister’s Terrace are also getting Timewalking.
An Infinite Dragonflight mount (Infinite Timereaver) has a chance to drop from any Timewalking dungeon boss.
Cross-Realm Mythic Raiding will be enabled.
Valor has returned! It is earned from Heroic and Mythic Dungeons, various Bonus Events, and your first Raid Finder run each week.
Mythic dungeons will be the most lucrative source of Valor.
Mythic dungeons can drop a Heirloom Trinket that will scale to level 110.
Items can be upgraded by 10 item levels.
Defeating Archimonde on Heroic difficulty or higher will reward the Grove Warden mount (for a limited time)!
Mythic Warforged items can be even higher item level now, anywhere from 685 to 725 in five item-level increments.
Baleful items can also be higher item level, anywhere from level 655 all the way to 695.
Warlords Season 3 is coming, with Warmongering Aspirant gear at PvP item level 715, Warmongering Combatant gear at 730, and Warmongering Gladiator gear at 740.

Bolded what I figured you guys would care about most.

*Cross-Realm Mythic*

This will both a boon and a bane,  Hitting 20 raiders will be easier but there will be little cost to jumping from one group to another at every little progression road bump.

Ugh that valor thing means I'm probably gonna have to log in outside of raid times doesn't it.
When I show up to raid nights I am there to have fun, not to have a tantrum-prone, know-it-all diva decide to show up on some nights and detract from my enjoyment of raiding.

Yeah, but at least when you're running for Valor you have a (albeit small) chance at 725 gear. Also, haven't seen anything about a Valor cap yet or what the cost per upgrade will be.

I like the ilvl upgrades, not so much having to run dungeons to get them .

I rather liked the ilvl upgrading system in MoP. I have a feeling valor upgrades will be similar, if not the same, to MoP. 500 Valor per 5 ilvl.

I swear to god Blizz better fix the legendary daggers with all this new timewalking stuff cause there's no way Glaives can hold together due to the ilvl disparity. At least all of my Dragon Soul gear will still be relevant.

Quote
Players who take part in Mythic Dungeons will have a chance to gain items up to item level 725

I'm a bit concerned about that. 725 is higher than all gear from HFA to Council, and on par with all gear from Kilrogg to Xhul/Zakuun.

So if a Mythic Dungeon item drops a 725 item can you add 10 more ilvls from Valor?

From the sounds of it, you can upgrade any kind of gear. Which would still make the mythic dungeon gear better / on par than majority of MHFC.

Keep in mind it's a pretty small chance to get that max ilvl. I think currently it normally starts at 685, then starts WF at 700. I'd assume it does a check for if it's WF, then a second check to see if it's 700/705/710/715/720/725. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a lower percentage chance on the second check the higher you go (e.g. 40% chance for 700, 25% chance for 705, and so on).

I couldn't agree more; this will certainly be a double edged sword.

Aren't most swords double edged?

I know that you're just being your usual troll self, but at least a few single edge sword types immediately come to mind (sabre, katana, scimitar, falchion).

Last i checked it's illegal to "own" a pet falchion. Once you get your falchoner's license you merely rent a falchion from the government.

So if Baleful gear is 695 when you redeem a token, does that make applying an Empowered Apexis Fragment to it pointless?

Each 5 item level upgrade costs 250 Valor. Only HFC/Baleful gear can be upgraded right now.
Random dungeons reward 100 Valor.
The weekly Bonus Event quest rewards 500 Valor.
The weekly Raid Finder run rewards 75/150 Valor.

Doesn't seem like there will be a weekly cap if they're giving out this much valor and the upgrades are really cheap.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a weekly cap.  How many dungeons would you have to run day 1 to max out all of your gear?  Such a drastic step in ilvl across your raid in a single day/lockout would be pretty much equivalent to a flat % nerf.  I just don't see why they'd go without a cap, since it would be so contrary to the carrot/stick model.

People are saying in theory the trinkets could be better against certain bosses in mythic hellfire than current mythic trinkets.

Yeah i can see that, the strength trinket keeps the bonus strength if you get a killing blow with it active so you could potentially have that bonus strength for the majority of HFA, P1/2 of Mannaroth, Xhulorac and such. Key word being potentially but the more adds there are being cleaved down the higher the likelihood of you getting the killing blow.

I'm all for a weekly cap if there truly is one. If there isn't then I'm going to go super crazy with trying to max as much gear as possible before raid. At least for me it's a win-win.

The trinkets are really nice. If they don't throw in a hidden "unique" tag on them, then I could see people double dipping on the trinkets. Equipping X and Y trinkets for maximum damage / survivability.

EDIT:
WoWhead PTR also has the item upgrade system in place so you can see how much of a difference the items get with the +10 ilvls.

Most players originally thought there was a valor cap from playing the PTR...turns out there isn't.

There's no hard weekly cap this time around, but at some point you will run out of Valor-awarding activities.

So if you want the maximum possible valor you're forced to doing LFR :|
