Need To Know Config (for Toma)
« on: 08/12/11, 06:08 PM »
I figured I'd just post how I have my NTK timer bars configured as a Combat rogue to help Toma (and anyone else who wants to try this mod) get set up.

1. In the Interface->Addons menu, I enable Groups 1-4; currently I have 6 timer bars in G1, and 1 bar in each of G2-4.

2. Type "/ntk" in your console/chat area to toggle between edit mode and play mode.  If the bars are showing solid, you're in edit mode; if they're not visible, you're in active mode (they'll automatically pop up as needed).

3. In edit mode, you can drag the groups around (I have mine right below my HUD--I use IceHUD--in the middle of the screen where I can easily see them while moving out of shit), resize them, etc.

4. Right-click on a bar to edit it.  I'll walk you through the options I have set up for Combat:

4a. My top bar in Group 1 is for Slice and Dice. Right-click the bar, select "Choose buff/debuff to time" and type in "Slice and Dice"; Bar Type should be "Buff" and under Buff Settings make sure the monitored unit is "Player."  I like "fractional seconds" on Time Format, and I set this bar to a nice solid yellow color so it's easily visible.  Feel free to look over the other menu options, they're fairly self-explanatory.

4b. Second bar in G1 is Shallow Insight. "Shallow Insight," "Buff," "Player," "fractional seconds" (as per SnD above). I use a light blue for this bar--there's a neat trick I use to cycle between Shallow/Medium/Deep Insight, I'll get to that in step 5.

4c. Third bar is Recuperate. "Recuperate," "Buff," "Player," "fractional seconds" again. I use a fairly bright green color for this one.

4d. Fourth bar is Rupture. Here the name of the buff/debuff is obviously "Rupture," but for Bar Type you select "Debuff" and for monitored unit (now under Debuff Settings) you select "Target." Make sure under Debuff Settings you click "only show if cast by self"; again I like "fractional seconds" for this. I use a deep red color for this bar.

Bonus neat trick that comes in especially handy if you play Mutilate: you can monitor two (or more) similar buffs/debuffs on the same bar! When putting in the name of the buff/debuff to monitor (here I'm grouping both bleeds together), enter the first name, then a comma, then the next name: "Garrote, Rupture" for example.

4e. My fifth bar is Deadly Poison. "Deadly Poison," "Debuff," "Target," "fractional seconds," "only show if cast by self." For buffs/debuffs that stack, it's useful to see the stack size; under Show... make sure "Stack Count" is checked. This option is also handy for seeing stacks of Stolen Power on Nef, Torment on Baleroc, etc.

4f. My sixth and final bar of Group 1 is a combination armor debuff bar: "Faerie Fire, Sunder Armor, Expose Armor," "Debuff," "Target." Since these debuffs are longer in duration, I set Time Format to "minutes and seconds." Since I don't care who put this debuff up, I make sure to deselect "only show if cast by self" on the Debuff settings. I use a purplish color for this bar.

5. I use the single bar in Groups 2 and 3 to set up a cycling effect for my Insight status. G2's bar I set as per 4b above, except the buff to monitor is "Medium Insight" and I use a medium blue color. G3 shows "Deep Insight" with a dark blue color. I then stack these two bars directly over the Shallow Insight bar, and bam, the effect is of a single bar that changes color with the three levels of Insight.

6. I use G4 to show boss abilities that I need to worry about on myself. Currently I have a grey bar set to show "Torment, Searing Seeds," "Debuff," target is "Player," "fractional seconds," and Show... "stacks." This aids me to quickly see when to run out for Torment or Searing Seeds.

Instead of setting it up to see time, having the bars that long allows me to judge how much time I have before I'll have to refresh, and it lets me keep them in view at all times.
I did the same trick you did with your bars and stacking them, simply because I had also done the same with PowerAuras, when I had it.
I greatly enjoy this addon, however. <3

Sounds good!  It's a great addon, and I hope it helps you as much as it helps me. =)

Mine turned into a Fauchard of Bigotry after I equipped it. It's like a sorting hat for anger and discrimination.
